for everyone
Jack, Dave and myself trundled over to Snowshil on saturday morning in glorious sunshine, parked outside the pub there and decided to have some scran. Then on to do a route Jack had set out from there, taking in some of the sunday HONC route albeit backwards. After 2 pints and a heavier than necessary lunch we headed off, none of us felt like it but u can't waste the time sleeping eh??

Sunday , 6 pints of guiness and double Kentucky isn't good prep food for a 100 km event, let thet be a lesson to you! Especially when the temps forecast could be about 25 degrees!!

Anyway we all 3 set off in good cheer, with gallons of water sloshing around in our bellies trying to eliminate the chances of dehydration, it did work but felt bloody hideous!
All was going well until about 4 miles in and I foolishly overtook a slower rider on a downhill stretch and wacked a big rock and instantly I knew, pinch puncture, Jack and Dave where just ahead of me at this point and I saw them ride off into the distance never to be seen again. Ten minutes and about 800 riders later i got back on my bike and headed off.

At about half way(30 miles) cake stop, my favorite, and yahoo Dave and Jack were waiting for little ol me, a quick cuppa and cake then off to the finish only 30 odd more miles "easy"
It was at this point I starting to wonder what had I let myself in for, I struggled to keep up with Dave and Jack, even on the up hills, and with them on single speeds, fair play to them both, I kept on pumping and managed not to slow them down too much, as soon as we hit a bit of road or downhill I could catch up, Dave on a rigid with his eyes rattling like peas in a pod, no ta!

We got to the end in about 6 hours with cake/ice cream/puncture stops and all felt ok which just goes to show we where hydrating our bodies enough! I drunk about 7 litres of juice.
Good weekend was had by all I think and look forward to mayhem

Look at all that crap that Dave has just taken out of his camelbak. Typical singlespeeder toolkit.

They were that blistered from hauling one gear up all those climbs, I had to do the last 5 miles no handed.

several donald ducked riders and one pretty sick rear wheel, about 2 spokes had tension on them!
Boy was it bumpy out there.

YEP eating and drinking is the new riding. No rush, we did 80 miles yet still had time for plenty of relaxing and stuff. Proper weekend out.
